Hokage Naruto

Author: Kuuya

The sky was bright and sunny, with a few scattered puffs of clouds drifting here and there, reflecting of a pair of eyes that put even the sky to shame. They were a deep, pure blue, shining with warmth and compassion and, at the moment, sadness. Those eyes that had, in the beginning never known love, had never been touched by kindness before, but yet they radiated with a kind, gentle nature that no person could doubt their innocence.

Except for those people, the ones that raised him and that he had grown up with all his life. No matter how hard he tried, they hadn’t listened or cared. It was as if they all wished that he wasn’t even there, and were trying to make that wish come true by acting like it. They didn’t know about the pure heart, or the innocence.

But that didn’t bother him, because Naruto had finally found his precious people. The ones who had seen beneath the underneath, and had accepted him for who he was. Though they were a precious few, he loved them and knew that they felt the same. It had been a long time since he had lived without the care of his precious people, he reflected. That sadness he had once felt, where one’s existence is called unnecessary, it was lonely. Painful.

Having no one was painful. Being stared at, pushed and ridiculed, it was worse than painful. Even his mask, the one that everyone was fooled by was had to keep up, though he had somehow managed to maintain it after years of being lonely.

Now though, now it was alright. He had his precious people, the ones who knew that he was more than what people could see on the outside. Iruka, The third, even the rookie nine had finally realized that he wasn’t the dead last they had thought him to be. That they shouldn’t push his dreams around lightly. He was more than that, and that was alright by them.

Yes, it had been a long time since he had been lonely.

“Rokudaime-sama?! Rokudaime-sama?! Where did you get off to again!!! Naruto, come on! You still have to fill out all these papers! Naruto…”

Shifting up from his rocky perch, Naruto stretched and grinned, slowly bending over to grab the tell tale hokage hat.

“There you are!” Iruka exclaimed exasperatedly hopping down from a rooftop. “Naruto, you shouldn’t be shirking you duties to go cloud watching over the Hokage monument…” Iruka went on and on as Kakashi and Sasuke, who was now an ANBU leader, stood smirking slightly as Iruka ranted away at Naruto for shirking his Hokage duties.

Trailing off, Iruka sighed at what he would like to think of as his adopted son just fox grinned cheerfully at him. “Well,” Iruka trailed, “If you come back with me, and finish ALL of the paper work I’ll, I’ll treat you to ramen afterwards.” Iruka finished, scratching the side of his nose thoughtfully.

How far can we go, looking up to the sky?

“YOSH!”
